Hemp Oil vs. CBD Oil

CBD oil seems to be penetrating all markets at this point. It can be found in almost every consumable form: gummies, oil, even infused in tea. But what is the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil? Sometimes the terms are used interchangeably; however, there are key differences. Below, we have given you a quick reference to help identify the differences between hemp oil (or hemp seed oil) and CBD oil.

First of all, what is agricultural hemp, and how is it different than marijuana? Agricultural hemp, although derived from the same plant family, has vastly different functionality and application. Possibly the largest difference between the two plants is the THC content. THC is the chemical compound that induces psychoactive effects. Hemp Oil

Hemp oil is extracted from hemp seeds, using a process referred to as cold pressing. This process takes clean, raw hemp seeds, presses and grinds them down, then separates the oil from the shells. What you are left with is an unrefined hemp oil, which can be used as an additive in cooking oils, or further refined and used in body lotions, soaps or as a fuel source.

Hemp oil is rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids, which makes it a great alternative to fish oil for vegans and vegetarians. It can also be used as dressing or dip, to add a nutty, earthy flavor to dishes. Its naturally hydrating properties make it a great addition to moisturizers, lotions and soaps.

The extraction process for CBD oil is decidedly more complex. This process uses the stalks, leaves and flowers of the hemp plant. Aside from using different portions of the plant, this process requires additional concentration of the oil to increase the amount of CBD, and ensure it retains a high level of potency and quality.

According to +CBDOil, many people who have used their CBD Oil products have reported feeling contented, level-headed and composed. CBD Oil interacts with the Endocannabinoid system, a system within the body that speaks to other systems in the body to produce homeostasis.
