Attaining that Healthy Glow

Spring is just around the corner. So what is one of the best things about spring and summer? The sun of course, and that healthy glowing tan! Personally, I am very guilty oftrying to be out in the sunshine day and night and soaking up those wonderful warm waves! But, we all need to be careful in the sunlight. Especially depending on the type of skin that you have;you need to be very careful with the treatment and care of your skin.

So all this is leading up towearing some type of sun block;even just a little bit will definitely help protect your skin. So as I said, I love the sun and I love being in the sunshine. But there are ways to attain this ‚healthy glow‚ by the types of foods that we eat. Beta Carotene is a pigment and mineral that is found in many different fruits and vegetables, giving them their vibrant colors. But besides being a pigment, once it is ingested, two things will happen. It will be either converted into Vitamin A or it acts as an antioxidant. And just to be clear, one of the mainpurposes of antioxidants is to fight free radicals in the body. So that‚s amazing in and of itself and a good reason to munch on thosesweet orange vegetables!

These are just some of the reasonsbeta-carotene is a wonderful thing to be sure that you are getting in your whole food diet. It also helps support skin health, eye health, and cardiovascular health. But to go back to the healthy glow, ingesting beta-carotene will actually help give a healthy glow to your skin! The pigment that gives the vibrancy to the vegetables, does the same for your own skin!

Let us now combine the two! Go outside, be in the sunshine (protect yourself with some type of sunscreen), soak up some natural vitamin D and be in the light! Then, when you come back inside for a snack, load up with beta-carotene filled fruits and vegetables. These would include any and all of the following: Carrots, sweet potatoes, oranges, butternut squash, mangoes, rainbow chard‚ etc. The more colorful the fruit or vegetable, the more beta-carotene as well as other antioxidants!

So, really, it's very easy to get that healthy spring/summer time ‚glow.‚ It doesn‚t mean to go in a tanning bed and fry yourself, it means eat lots of healthy vibrant foods and spend some time in nature. It is so simple and it makes you feel wonderful. So enjoy, soak up the light, and be Vibrant!
