When I was 12 years old I was diagnosed with Lupus. It was at that point that I made the decision to not let this chronic illness define my life. I started eating healthy and working out as soon as I was well enough to do so. Health and fitness quickly became the foundation upon which I built my life. This is how I have been able to battle Lupus and it’s how I will continue to battle it. I started personal training when I was 20 years old and was introduced to CrossFit by a friend not long after. When I finally dropped in at a CrossFit gym, I did a 10min CrossFit Benchmark workout named “Cindy” and was instantly hooked. I loved being able to push myself outside of my comfort zone to see what I am truly capable of. Everyday I wake up feeling good and being able to train for competitions the way I do, I know I am winning over Lupus. I refuse to ever let it control my life.
